Located in the East Midland this bustling city is steeped in history and its origins can be traced back to the Iron Age circa 1st century BC. Lincoln's place name derives from the celtic Lindun meaning 'fort on a hill by a pool', and after the Roman invasion was later anglicised from lindum colonia.

Lincoln boomed during the industrial revolution, due to its location. However, like most other cities the industrial giants have since disappeared and the IT economy has developed instead, with the city benefiting from the rise of ecommerce.

Despite these modern advances Lincoln still retains its historical charm, such as Lincoln Minster and Lincoln Mastle. The castle is home to an original Magna Carta, one of only four in existence.

Lincoln has many attractions for tourists and visitors alike, including the castle, arboretum, cathedral, and life museum in addition the many shopping and dining opportunities available.

Although the city tends to be most popular in the summer months there is an annual Christmas market which is growing in popularity and size. This is held in the second weekend of December and is in the style of a traditional 'Weinachtsmarkt' found in German cities such as Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, one of Lincoln's twin cities.

We focus on the Bed and Breakfast accommodation as there are many high quality establishments offering a genuinely warm Midlands welcome to visitors in addition to a good night's sleep. Local B&B's are also happy to assist visitors to the town and guide them to the best attractions the city has to offer.

Bed and breakfast facilities within Lincoln and its surrounding area are plentiful and serve as an ideal base for exploring other local amenities such as Scampton airfield (home of the Red Arrows), the County Showground or Cadwell Park motor racing circuit. For convenience, value and an enjoyable stay we heartily recommend any of these establishments.
